Cinema “Riga” presents on its big screen – “Golden Program of the Russian Ballet”

Cinema “Riga” is going to launch the demonstration of the cycle “Golden Program of the Russian Ballet” on its big screen with Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” on the 3d of June this year. “Golden Program of the Russian Ballet” includes six world-renowned stagings of the Russian ballet that were filmed in High Definition in St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre and Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre for their screening in cinemas worldwide. This will be a remarkable event as ballet performances have never been screened in cinemas of Latvia before.

First Stage of Riga Art Nouveau Museum Opened

On April 25, the first day of the new tourism season, Riga Art Nouveau museum opens its doors to visitors at 12, Alberta Street. The building was designed by prominent Latvian architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns, and the museum is located in his former flat. With the opening of the first stage of the museum, the visitors can see the authentically restored and furnished anteroom, living room with a bay and a fire-place room with an exposition of furniture and objects dating back to the Art Nouveau times.

Live broadcast from world famous La Scala – in cinema Riga

Riga citizens are offered a unique opportunity – to watch on April 14 a live broadcast of The Journey to Reims (Il Viaggio a Reims), one of the most exquisite operas by  the famous Italian composer, Gioachino Rossini, from the world famous La Scala in Milano. Thus cinema Riga opens a series of live broadcasts from La Scala. The performance will be watched simultaneously by thousands of spectators in Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.

More than 200, 000 watched „Guards of Riga”

More than 200, 000 filmgoers in Latvia watched until May 9 the new Latvian film „Guards of Riga”, distributed by Riga Culture Agency. The film is still showing in the cinemas of our neighbouring countries.
